Report: NBPA 'monitoring' how Heat handle Bosh situation

The NBPA has its eyes on the Miami Heat.

The Players Association is reportedly "monitoring" the Heat after reports earlier in the week indicated that Miami is likely to keep Chris Bosh on their roster until March 1 to ensure he's not playoff eligible, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

The NBPA is currently involved in CBA talks, but are reportedly expected to take a more proactive stance on Bosh should the 32-year-old have the opportunity to resume his career with another team.

Should Bosh play 25 games or more in a single season, his salary would return to the Heat's books. By waiving Bosh after March 1, the Heat would eliminate the possibility of Bosh playing 25 games with another team this season. However, Miami still run the risk of Bosh's salary reappearing atop their cap number in 2017-18 if he meets the minimum requirement the following year.

Bosh has repeatedly expressed his desire to return to the NBA after the Heat president Pat Riley essentially confirmed that the 11-time All-Star's career with Miami was over.

As it stands, Miami can seek salary-cap relief for the remainder of Bosh's salary after Feb. 9 - one year since his last game with the Heat.
