Matt Holliday quite possibly played his last game as a member of the Cardinals on Friday, and he made sure to deliver in what could have been his final at-bat for St. Louis, belting a pinch-hit home run.

Holliday, who's been an integral member of the Cardinals over the past eight seasons, almost brought teammate Brandon Moss to tears with the blast.

"Almost tears," Moss told MLB.com's Nick Krueger when asked how he felt after watching the home run. "You spend enough time with people, and you come to know them as people and you come to know them as much more than just a teammate, and you know what people go through."

The 36-year-old Holliday missed the last seven weeks with a fractured thumb, and likely won't have his $17-million option picked up for next season, according to general manager John Mozeliak, so the home run was special for Moss.

"When you spend as much time together as we do, you understand what people go through on the field and off and in the trainer's room," Moss explained. "It moves you a little bit because it's almost like he deserved that ... I just couldn't be any happier for him."

During his tenure with the Cardinals, Holliday has swatted .292/.379/.493 with 156 home runs and 615 RBIs.
