Watch: Holliday belts homer in possible last AB for Cardinals

In what could be his last at-bat with the St. Louis Cardinals, Matt Holliday put quite the stamp on his career with the franchise by clobbering a pinch-hit home run Friday.

The 36-year-old stepped to the plate, replacing pitcher Carlos Martinez in the seventh inning, and took left-hander Zach Phillips deep over the right-field fence.

The veteran slugger received an incredible standing ovation from fans as he rounded the bases.

Holliday was greeted with hugs from his teammates and manager Mike Matheny on his way back to the dugout, then got splashed in the face with water.

Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said Friday it was unlikely the club would pick up its $17-million option on Holliday for next season.

Holliday has spent the past eight seasons in St. Louis, earning a .292/.379/.493 slash line with 155 home runs and 614 RBIs.
