Bills' McCoy active vs. Dolphins, reportedly could be on snap count

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy is active for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, but could be on a snap count due to his hamstring injury, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

McCoy was forced to the sidelines in Wednesday's practice before being held out of Thursday's team session entirely, casting some significant doubt upon his availability for game day.

Despite reports then indicating that he was thought to be facing a multi-week absence, he returned to practice as a limited participant Friday before being deemed a game-time decision.

A monitored workload in line with the 25-30 snaps that Schefter reported would severely impact McCoy's potential for another dominant performance. The fact that he's avoiding any missed time, however, can be considered a positive development for a suddenly hot Bills team nonetheless.

McCoy taking the occasional breather this week would have Mike Gillislee poised for a significant role as part of a more balanced backfield rotation.

Buffalo enters Week 7 leading the NFL with an average of 166.5 rushing yards per game.
