Are the Giants preparing to play Beckham Jr. at safety?
The New York Giants are growing alarmingly thin at safety.
Free safety Darian Thompson has a lisfranc injury and Nat Berhe was placed in concussion protocol Thursday. Possible backups Eli Apple (hamstring) and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (groin) may not play in Monday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings either.
So who will the Giants turn to? If you read between the lines, it just may be star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
Head coach Ben McAdoo told reporters Thursday that he had some offensive players practice on defense. Then he was asked if Beckham Jr. might play in the secondary.
"Never say never," was his response, according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.
Beckham was equally cryptic when asked about a potential position change:
While it's unclear how he'd perform in such a role, we already know he can hit.
