Jaso completes 1st cycle in PNC Park history

Charles LeClaire / USA TODAY Sports

Pittsburgh Pirates slugger John Jaso hit for the first cycle of his career and the 24th in club history Wednesday night against the Chicago Cubs.

He became the first Pirates player to hit for the cycle since Daryle Ward did it in 2004, and the first to hit one in Pittsburgh since Jason Kendall in 2000. He also became the first player to accomplish the feat at PNC Park, which opened in 2001.

Jaso singled in the second, homered in the fourth, and doubled in the fifth before stinging a triple in the seventh inning. He joins Freddie Freeman and Rajai Davis as the third player this season to hit for the cycle.

The first baseman is making his first season with the Pirates count, hitting .259/.342/.384 with six homers and 24 doubles coming into Wednesday night's game.
