David Boren wants to clear the air regarding Oklahoma's thoughts on Big 12 expansion.

Despite earlier reports that Boren had taken a stance against adding two more teams to the conference, the Oklahoma president says the university has yet to take a firm stance one way or the other, according to Jake Trotter of ESPN.

"I do not know where the speculation came from," Boren said in a statement to ESPN. "But Oklahoma has not yet taken a position on expansion."

Boren has shown support to the idea of Big 12 expansion in the past, and stated in May that the creation of a Big 12 network "might be very advantageous to the entire conference." He did note after a meeting of university regents on Sept. 14, however, that the inevitability of expansion cannot be "automatically assumed."

Expansion talks could heat up when presidents and chancellors within the Big 12 are scheduled to meet on Oct. 17 in Irving, Texas.
