Draymond: Too 'brutal' to win 74 or 75 games

Having gone through the arduous charge for history last season, the Golden State Warriors have learned their lesson.

Chasing the Chicago Bulls' mark of 72 wins left the Warriors utterly spent come playoff time, and although they came within a game of repeating as champions, they ultimately fell to the more rested Cleveland Cavaliers.

That's why, this time around, the Warriors will be more diligent when it comes to maintaining perspective. There won't be another exhausting push for the wins record, Draymond Green expressed Monday.

"To be quite frank with you, I don’t want to win 74 games or 75 games," he told reporters. "It’s brutal."

Coming into last season, all the talk centered around how the Warriors were undeserved champions, of how they caught lucky breaks en route to the title. The team dismissed that criticism by opening the year on a 24-0 tear, which put them on the path toward the 72-win marker.

But having secured the single-season wins record, the Warriors no longer have anything to prove - at least not in the regular season. Their only goal is to win the championship.
