The better team in Saturday's game between Florida and Tennessee was the one on the wrong end of the decision, according to its quarterback.

"I truly believe the better team didn't win Saturday," Austin Appleby told reporters Monday.

In attempting to secure a 12th consecutive victory over the Volunteers, Appleby led Florida to a 21-3 halftime lead. The second half was a different story, though, as the Vols dominated the visiting club and won the contest 38-28, leaving the Gators in a state of shock.

"That was the most emotional locker room that I've ever been in," Appleby said. "We fully expected to win that game. Guys really took it personally."

Appleby was 23-of-39 for 296 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in the loss.

Florida next faces Vanderbilt on Saturday, where Appleby is expected to start again in place of the injured Luke Del Rio.
