Seahawks' Bennett: Gabbert provides 'no challenge'

Joe Nicholson / USA TODAY Sports

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett isn't impressed with the winner of the San Francisco 49ers' quarterback competition.

After pummeling the 49ers 37-18 on Sunday, Bennett told reporters there were really no issues with defending Blaine Gabbert.

"There is no challenge (facing Gabbert). He threw for 100 yards," Bennett said, according to Pro Football Talk's Curtis Crabtree. "The challenge is him reading the defenses and staying in the pocket. What’s the point in running when you have to throw the ball?

"I think (Colin) Kaepernick gives the team a better chance of winning, but that’s just my opinion."

Gabbert threw for 19 yards more than Bennett described, but failed to register a touchdown, and threw an interception to linebacker Bobby Wagner.
