Report: Protesters hope to block entrances to Panthers' stadium

Protesters in Charlotte are planning to block all entrances to Bank of America Stadium ahead of Sunday's game between the Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings, ESPN's Michael Eaves reports.

Police reportedly received word of the plans Saturday night, learning that protesters intended to gather at nearby Marshall Park at 8:30 a.m. before marching toward the stadium and blocking access.

With demonstrations continuing in the days since Keith Lamont Scott was shot and killed by a police officer Tuesday night, the game was declared an "extraordinary event" by the city of Charlotte.

Such a designation allows the city to heighten security measures and "modify its permitting process" for large-scale events or those of national or international significance.

After considering the possibility of moving the game, the Panthers-Vikings matchup remains set for its scheduled early afternoon kickoff.
