National Guard troops have been deployed outside Bank of America Stadium as protests in Charlotte, N.C., over the police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott continue, which included rioting Wednesday.
The Carolina Panthers are still set to take on the Minnesota Vikings at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, though protests are expected to continue throughout the weekend.
Despite the chaos, Charlotte Police Chief Kerr Putney supports the franchise's decision to proceed with the game as scheduled.
"We're in good shape for Sunday's game," Putney said. "We strongly encourage the NFL to allow our Panthers to be victorious on Sunday."
