MLB has cleared Jeremy Jeffress to return to the Texas Rangers on Friday, according to multiple reports.

Jeffress will not dress for the Rangers, and will instead spend the next week working on a throwing program, reports Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.

The right-hander was acquired at the trade deadline from the Milwaukee Brewers along with catcher Jonathan Lucroy, but quickly checked into rehab after his arrest for driving while intoxicated.

Jeffress, who has already been suspended twice by MLB under the league's drug protocol, will join a club on track for the playoffs.

In 56 appearances this year, Jeffress owns a 2.52 ERA while converting 27 of 28 save opportunities.
