Watch: Georgia Tech miscue leads to bizarre safety vs. Clemson

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Georgia Tech is having an awful first half against Clemson on Thursday, perhaps best summed up by one of the weirdest plays in recent memory.

After Lance Austin intercepted Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson on the 1-yard line, he attempted to start a return, but had the ball knocked out of his hand and into the end zone by a teammate. Austin would fall on the ball, but since the play occurred in the end zone, Clemson registered a safety on the play.

That play would give the Tigers a 16-0 lead. They promptly took the ensuing possession in for another touchdown, extending the lead to 23-0 at half.
