P.J. Fleck urges Wolverines, Spartans fans to watch Western Michigan

Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Western Michigan was arguably the worst team in college football during P.J. Fleck's first season with the program, finishing 1-11 in 2013, but the Broncos are far removed from those struggles just three years later.

So far removed that the excitable coach invites fans of fellow in-state schools Michigan and Michigan State to start watching Broncos games.

Fleck urged fans of the two Power 5 conference schools to attend their team's games early Saturday, then make the drive to Kalamazoo for the Broncos' nighttime affair with Georgia Southern.

"Go to Ann Arbor and East Lansing in the daytime, go get your daytime fix and then come to us at night," the 35-year-old said during his press conference Thursday. "You can get a doubleheader. It'll be perfect. Even if you're not a fan of Western Michigan, come over and watch another football game."

Fleck certainly doesn't discriminate when it comes to recruiting new Western Michigan fans, telling either school's supporters they are more than welcome to start rooting for the Broncos.

"Whether you're a Wolverine or you're a Sparty, that's fine, you can all be Broncos. We will take you. Come on down and see the night game."

With two wins over Big Ten schools already this season, Western Michigan is certainly making waves nationally, but it remains to be seen if Fleck can get any fans to jump ship and "Row the Boat" for the Broncos.
