Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis is calling for peace.

"I know Charlotte. I know this community. And what I saw on TV last night, that's not Charlotte," Davis said of the violent protests that have raged in Charlotte for the past two nights following a deadly police shooting of a black man.

"It's important for us to do it the right way. (Rioting) makes the situation worse," he said.

Davis said he believes that the police releasing video of the shooting to the public would be beneficial.

"Release the video, show people that what we're saying is true," he said.

Davis also made it clear he believes the Panthers' Week 3 home game should not be rescheduled or moved.

"This game absolutely should be played Sunday," Davis said. "We need something to bring people together. Football has a unique way of (doing that)"
