National anthem standoff delays Cardinals, Rockies game

There are wild-card spots to be won in the National League and for some reason, the St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies had zero sense of urgency to get things going on Wednesday afternoon at Coors Field.

No, this wasn't a kneeling protest of the Star-Spangled Banner by any means, this was a good old-fashioned anthem standoff.

Jose Martinez and Carlos Estevez stood in place well after the singing of the national anthem, delaying the game's first pitch.

Estevez finally caved, and Martinez was declared the winner.

If only standoffs played into the standings, St.Louis.
