Yankees shut out for 5th time this month

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

The "Baby Bombers" are going through some growing pains.

After Friday's 9-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, the New York Yankees have been shut out five times in September, the first time that's happened since May 1984, a stretch of 32 years.

Despite being led by rookie sensation Gary Sanchez - who recently became the fastest player to hit 19 home runs, needing only 45 games - the Yankees are 28th in the majors in RBIs (75) and runs scored (77) since the start of September.

The 9-0 win is the largest defeat the Blue Jays laid on the Yankees since 2001, when Tony Fernandez had a pinch-hit grand slam in a 14-0 win.
