Clippers' Crawford hints at playing 5 more years

At 36 years old, the reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year still believes he has many years of quality basketball left - five, to be exact.

Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard Jamal Crawford hosted a Q-and-A session on his Twitter account Monday night, indicating to one of his followers that he'll play five more years before retiring.

Crawford signed a three-year, $42-million contract with the Clippers this summer, a nice bump from the one-year, $12-million deal they originally offered. This will take him into the 2019 summer, when he'll presumably look for one last payday before calling it a career.

He averaged his fewest points per game in four seasons last year, at 14.2, yet it was still enough to garner his third Sixth Man of the Year win. Crawford's shooting percentages were also fairly weak, converting just 40.2 percent from the field and 34 percent from 3-point range.

Nonetheless, his offense for the second unit provided a much-need boost for a team devoid of Blake Griffin for all but 35 games.

To be fair, Crawford's efficiency has never been overly impressive since he entering the league in 2000. If he were to maintain his current numbers and avoid injury, there's a good chance he could have a job in his 40s.
