The San Francisco Giants may not have Johnny Cueto available to make his next start Sunday against the San Diego Padres.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy told reporters, including MLB.com's Chris Haft, that the right-hander was diagnosed with a Grade 1 groin strain after undergoing an MRI on Wednesday and is currently listed as day to day.

The 30-year-old Cueto left a contest Tuesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers after appearing to injure himself while running a ball toward first base.

After initially staying in the game, Cueto exited one batter later after just seven pitches.

Bochy went on to say the team will get a different starter ready to take his place on Sunday, with Matt Cain, Jake Peavy, and Ty Blach as potential options.

In his first season since signing a six-year, $130-million contract, Cueto has proven his worth, posting a 17-5 record with a 2.79 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 31 starts.
