FC Dallas wins U.S. Open Cup after triumph over New England

FC Dallas ended their 19-year trophy drought in style Tuesday night with a thrilling victory over the New England Revolution to win the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup trophy.

It was FC Dallas' first U.S. Open Cup triumph since 1997, when it beat the Revolution 4-2 in front of a sold-out Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

Mauro Diaz led the charge for Dallas, finding the back of the net and setting up three goals to secure victory and erase a valiant effort from Juan Agudelo, who scored two goals in a losing effort for New England.

The victory maintains Dallas' hopes of winning the treble, as the club still has a shot at winning Major League Soccer's Supporters' Shield as well as the MLS Cup.
