Ole Miss' Webster out for season after gruesome leg injury

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

After suffering a nasty leg injury during Monday's loss to Florida State, Ole Miss defensive back Ken Webster confirmed Tuesday that he's out for the remainder of the season.

"I would like to thank every single last person for getting out to me. I am out for the season," Webster said in a statement on Twitter. "I have an entire year to get bigger, faster and strong. At one point in time tonight I was ready to call quits. All the love everyone showed me and the prayer I am focused on the comeback and encouraging my brothers to finish this season well!"

Webster's knee buckled at an awkward angle on the Seminoles' opening possession of the game, and he was carted to the locker room in obvious pain.

The news is a massive blow to the Rebels as Webster was expected to be the top performer for the program in the secondary.

Ole Miss hosts Wofford on Saturday in its Week 2 contest.
