Oregon picks up Georgetown transfer Paul White

Tommy Gilligan / USA TODAY Sports

Georgetown transfer forward Paul White announced Wednesday he has committed to Oregon.

White is coming off a frustrating sophomore campaign with the Hoyas, in which he averaged just 1.6 points in 9.6 minutes. He was also sidelined by a hernia for a portion of the season.

Two years ago, however, White showed promise as a freshman, averaging five points in 18.4 minutes. He shot 37.7 percent from the land beyond that season.

As an undergraduate, White will be required by NCAA transfer rules to sit out the 2016-17 season. He'll resume his career in 2017-18 with two seasons of eligibility.

The 6-foot-8 forward joins a Ducks squad coming off an excellent season that culminated in an Elite Eight berth in the NCAA tournament.
