Mingo experiencing 'culture shock' after joining Patriots

Barkevious Mingo is on a steep learning curve after being acquired by the New England Patriots in a trade last week with the Cleveland Browns.

Mingo, drafted sixth overall by the Browns in 2013, failed to meet his potential, but the Patriots ostensibly found value in the 25-year-old edge rusher.

During his three seasons with the Browns, the club went 14-34. Although he's only been with the Patriots for one week, Mingo feels immersed in a completely different environment.

"It's a huge culture shock,” Mingo said via Adam Kurkjian of the Boston Herald. "I felt like the winning spirit was making its way into Cleveland with those new coaches, but it’s definitely been established here for a long time, and I’m excited to be a part of it."

Mingo raved about the Patriots' depth across the board with the regular season on the horizon.

"It's very exciting," Mingo said. "This team is stacked at every position. They have guys on the outside who can cover. We've got interior guys who are holding gaps and linebackers that are hitting those gaps and making big plays. I’m just excited to be a part of it."
