The New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to host pass-rusher Paul Kruger following the veteran's release from the Cleveland Browns on Monday, ESPN's Mike Triplett and Adam Schefter report.

The Saints were in the running to sign Kruger before he inked a five-year, $40.5-million deal with the Browns in 2013, so their interest isn't surprising. Edge-rushing remains a clear need in New Orleans.

The Chiefs could view Kruger more as insurance, and a bridge to whenever it is star edge-rusher Justin Houston returns from his knee injury.

Kruger, 30, made only 2.5 sacks in 2015, but registered 11 the year prior.
