Report: Stanford's Bryce Love likely out for season opener vs. Kansas State

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Stanford running back Bryce Love will have to wait a little longer to begin his 2016 season, according to Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News.

Love is unlikely to play this Friday in the season opener against Kansas State, after suffering a lower-body injury during camp. The Cardinal will now turn to redshirt freshman Cameron Scarlett to fill the void.

Love, a 5-foot-10, 187-pound sophomore, rushed for 229 yards on 29 carries for two touchdowns, while also catching 15 balls for 250 yards and one touchdown.

Stanford has a bye week after facing the Wildcats, before hosting USC on Sept. 17.
