Betts earns spot alongside Ted Williams with 30th HR

Mookie Betts continues to say that he isn't a home run hitter, but the Boston Red Sox outfielder just can't stop hitting them.

Betts deposited a solo shot into the Monster seats during the second inning on Monday off Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Matt Andriese to join Ted Williams and Tony Conigliaro as the only players in Red Sox history to hit 30 homers before turning 24.

Williams accomplished the feat two times. He hit 31 homers as a 20-year-old rookie in 1939, and 37 as a 22-year-old in 1941. Conigliaro hit 32 home runs as a 20-year-old in 1965.

Betts, who turns 24 in October, has emerged as an American League MVP candidate this season - just his second full year in the majors. Entering Monday's game, Betts is hitting .321/.360/.560 with 100 runs, 34 doubles, and 21 stolen bases.
