Fournette fully healthy for Saturday's opener vs. Wisconsin

LSU's rushing attack will be at full strength Saturday against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field, as star running back Leonard Fournette is completely healthy, according to his coach.

The junior standout sprained his ankle during a mid-August practice, forcing him to wear a protective boot. But after returning to team practice last week on a limited basis, Fournette practiced in pads and is good to go.

"Leonard Fournette is fine," head coach Les Miles told James Bewers of The Advocate. "There's no issue with his health. He practiced extremely well last week, and we expect him to not miss a beat."

While Fournette will be at full strength, Miles admitted the Tigers might not force him back to full action right away, opting to take the plan game by game.

"It will all depend on his conditioning and his health," he said. "We're not going to keep him on the field if he's tired, no matter what, and we have real quality backs that way. I think balance is a way to remove him from the box and allow us bigger plays."

While Fournette is the star, the LSU backfield is certainly not short on talent. Derrius Guice rushed for 436 yards and three touchdowns on a gaudy 8.5 yard-per-carry average during his freshman campaign last year. The talented 5-foot-11, 212-pounder will be a key figure in the LSU offense regardless of Fournette's health.
