Report: 49ers trade Kenneth Acker to Chiefs

Matt Kartozian / USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers have traded cornerback Kenneth Acker to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2018, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Acker, a sixth-round pick in 2015, played significant snaps for the 49ers last season, tallying 65 tackles and three interceptions over 15 games.

During training camp, Acker slid down the 49ers' depth chart, falling behind Dontae Johnson and rookie Rashard Robinson.

With incoming head coach Chip Kelly molding the 49ers roster, Acker seems to have fallen through the cracks. He will, however, get another chance with the Chiefs, where he could fit in as a backup behind Marcus Peters and Steven Nelson.
