Sunderland is in contention to sign Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra, after the Andalusian club accepted a £7-million offer for his services, according to the Guardian's Louise Taylor.

The Black Cats are reportedly among several clubs interested in the 28-year-old, although Taylor understands the player is "enthusiastic" about a potential move to Wearside.

Iborra is no longer a guaranteed starter for Sevilla, despite helping the club to three straight Europa League titles. He's also known for his goal-scoring ability, with 14 La Liga tallies over the past two years.

Sunderland's market activity may not end there. Taylor believes manager David Moyes wants to re-sign Rubin Kazan's Yann M'Vila - who spent the 2015-16 campaign on loan at the Stadium of Light - on a permanent deal. M'Vila started 36 of Sunderland's 38 games last season, as the club successfully staved off relegation.

The Frenchman's contract with the Russian outfit expires on Dec. 31, giving Sunderland some leverage in the negotiation process.

But Rubin's asking price is currently "steep," according to Taylor.

No deal is expected to be finalised this weekend.
