Titans' Mularkey: 'We'll find ways' to get Henry on the field

Derrick Henry enters his rookie season with the Tennessee Titans set for a role as the No. 2 running back behind DeMarco Murray.

While the Titans will lean heavily upon Murray after acquiring him in an offseason trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Mike Mularkey says the second-round pick Henry won't be without a key role of his own.

"We'll find ways to get (Henry) on the field," Mularkey said, according to Paul Kuharsky of ESPN. "We know what he's capable of doing. I just want to be careful, I did it one time when I went in and was worrying about how many numbers guys were getting and it didn't work.

"We're going to do what's best for the team like we've been doing from the beginning. And whatever that is, if he's a large part of it, (he) is. But he'll have a role, definitely."

After using a premium selection to bring the Heisman Trophy-winner aboard, it won't be long before the Titans allow Henry to become the offensive workhorse.

Limiting his early career reps can only help his chances of taking on such a role over the long term, though he can still have an impact while seeing rotational carries.

Tennessee should make use of both backs throughout the year as the offensive staff looks to field a punishing run game to complement the skill set of second-year quarterback Marcus Mariota.
