Ryu hopes to pitch again this season

Rick Scuteri / USA TODAY Sports

While Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers continue to drop like flies, at least one starter is focused on returning from injury before season's end.

Hyun-Jin Ryu, who's made one start in the past two years due to various injuries, will begin a throwing program soon, manager Dave Roberts told reporters Wednesday.

Roberts said last week that he didn't expect Ryu to pitch again this season.

The left-hander missed all of 2015 recovering from shoulder surgery and returned in July, making only one appearance before being shut down with left elbow tendinitis.

Though the Dodgers' rotation has been riddled with injuries all year, they continue to be a force in the National League, entering Wednesday with a two-game division lead over the San Francisco Giants.
