You never want to upset someone nicknamed "The Big Hurt."
Ken Griffey Jr. made the backward cap a staple of his image during his playing days with the Seattle Mariners, but he wasn't planning on doing the same during his Hall of Fame ceremony in July. Well, not until former slugger Frank Thomas forcibly convinced The Kid to don the iconic look one last time.
"Frank said 'You gotta do it, you have to do it,' and I was like 'No I'm not going to do it' and he looked at me - and Frank's a little bit bigger than I am - and he threatened me," Griffey said in the broadcast booth Tuesday. "He's a veteran of the Hall of Fame, so you know as a rookie, I have to listen to the veterans and I went ahead and did it, and it was a nice touch."
Griffey's induction ceremony wouldn't have been the same without the special nod, so credit to Thomas for putting his foot down.
