Teams lining up to lure Phil Jones away from Manchester United will have to look elsewhere for defensive help.

Stoke City is the latest club linked with a move for Jones, but the 24-year-old is "content" with life at Old Trafford, according to Jamie Jackson of the Guardian, despite speculation over his role after injuries limited him to just 10 league appearances last season.

Jones is said to be an important component to manager Jose Mourinho's plans this season, despite his failure to feature in either of the team's opening Premier League matches.

On Monday, Stoke City assistant manager Mark Bowen admitted the club is interested in Jones, saying a move to Britannia Stadium could help revive the England international's career.

"I don’t know what’s gone wrong, but he’s gone from even a player Fergie was talking about as being someone who could have been one of the greats," Bowen told the Stoke Sentinel. "But we have a bit of reputation for bringing players like that into this set up and then thriving. Fingers crossed, something may happen."

Jones could take part in his first match of the season when United visits Hull City on Aug. 27.
