4-star DT Aubrey Solomon decommits from Michigan after letter mishap

Michigan lost its second four-star recruit in the span of four hours Monday, as defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon decommitted from the program.

"Recruitment is a funny thing, you can easily get caught up in the moment and feel that everyone knows who you are," Solomon posted on Twitter. "With that being said I am going to be reopening my recruitment, to give the opportunity for those recruiters to not only get it right but to get to know me. Academically, you cannot go wrong with Michigan, but this go around I will make my decision with my mother in the driver's seat."

While recruits decommitting is certainly nothing new, further investigating showed this decision came as the result of a thank-you card miscommunication.

The Wolverines sent Solomon a thank-you card for attending its barbecue event at Michigan Stadium earlier this month. The only catch? Solomon wasn't in attendance.

"A day or two ago, they sent my mom a card thanking us for going to the Michigan BBQ, but we never went," Solomon told 247Sports. "I do not know which recruit they were talking to, but it was not me."

The news of Solomon's decision comes just hours after the program lost prized 2018 recruit Leonard Taylor.

The 6-foot-3 300-pounder from Georgia, is ranked as the sixth-best defensive tackle in the 2017 recruiting class, and comes in at No. 61 on the ESPN 300. Solomon was Michigan's second-highest recruit for the 2017 cycle, trailing only quarterback Dylan McCaffrey.

Prior to committing to Michigan, Solomon received offers from numerous Power 5 programs, including Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Ole Miss.
