Angels' Street may need season-ending surgery

The Los Angeles Angels' season could be set to add another chapter to an already dismal story.

Right-hander Huston Street may face season-ending surgery, manager Mike Scioscia said Sunday to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

The 33-year-old, who was placed on the disabled list Aug. 2 with right knee inflammation, is consulting with a doctor to see if surgery could help his injury.

Scioscia said the surgery would be minor, and Street would be expected to be ready for next season.

Street has struggled through the worst season of his career, posting highs in ERA (6.45), WHIP (1.925), and hits per nine innings (12.5).

The two-time All-Star has been the team's closer since being acquired from the San Diego Padres in 2014, recording 66 saves in 76 chances.

Cam Bedrosian has filled in during Street's absence.
