The Seattle Seahawks' backfield appears to be rounding into form.

With Christine Michael impressing during his preseason run and C.J. Prosise set to make his debut this week, fellow running back Thomas Rawls is nearing a return to action after suffering a fractured ankle late last season.

The sophomore was a full participant in practice Sunday and the hope remains that he'll be ready for Week 1.

"Looks really good. The signs are very, very positive that he's going to be ready in a couple of weeks to play," head coach Pete Carroll said, according to John Boyle of Seahawks.com.

"Right now, we just want to see him come back day after day and keep battling, really digging in like he does, competing like he does, just show that he's right. He's doing everything we're asking of him. I'm really happy with him."

Rawls started seven games last season as the team transitioned away from veteran starter Marshawn Lynch. In his 13 games of action, he accrued 830 rushing yards, four touchdowns, and an additional touchdown reception.

The 23-year-old out of Central Michigan figures to be the team's lead running back this year, even though Michael has carried the ball 17 times in two preseason games for 99 yards and 5.8 yards per carry.

"I'm just taking it day by day," Rawls said of his recovery.

"Whenever my number's called ... I know I'll be ready by the first game."
