Report: Valencia injures Butler in clubhouse altercation

Whatever happened in the Oakland Athletics' clubhouse, no one wants to talk about it.

Teammates Danny Valencia and Billy Butler were involved in a clubhouse scuffle that left Butler injured, according to The Chronicle's Susan Slusser.

The incident reportedly happened on Friday, and when asked about it following the A's 4-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, Valencia stayed mum on the subject.

"No comment," Valencia said. "What happens in the clubhouse stays in the clubhouse."

Manager Bob Melvin also failed to comment on the matter, though he ruled Butler out of the lineup due to nausea and vomiting. The only thing he said was Butler specifically didn't have the flu.

Valencia was also left out of the lineup on Sunday.

Butler and Valencia were teammates with the Kansas City Royals in 2014.
