San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly may be in denial about his team's quarterback controversy.

Colin Kaepernick missed his second straight preseason game on Saturday due to arm fatigue after being sidelined throughout the offseason with various injuries, but Kelly isn't concerned with the lack of action.

"Kap is fine," Kelly told reporters via conference call. "I saw Kap. He's fine."

The quarterback took warmup on Sunday after missing a week of practice, but did not partake in the game. Kelly says the plan is for him to "throw some more" on Monday, but wouldn't commit to his involvement in team drills or 7-on-7.

Despite Kaepernick's absence from the day-to-day competition, Kelly has been adamant that the former starter will get a fair crack at regaining his job.

Blaine Gabbert's disappointing preseason play through two starts has given Kaepernick some leeway, but time is running out.
