Report: J.J. Hickson to sign with Chinese team

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

J.J. Hickson is apparently headed overseas.

The eight-year NBA veteran is reportedly finalizing a deal with the Chinese Basketball Association's Fujian Sturgeons, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Hickson averaged 5.9 points and 3.8 rebounds - his lowest marks since his rookie campaign - in 35 games with the Washington Wizards and Denver Nuggets last season.

The 27-year-old has amassed career averages of 9.5 points and 6.8 rebounds on better than 50 percent shooting over stints with the Wizards, Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, and Cleveland Cavaliers, who drafted the big man 19th overall out of North Carolina State in 2008.

Hickson has made more than $27 million in his career, and could still be eligible for a 10-day contract later in the 2016-17 NBA season, since a typical Chinese league season ends in March.

Former NBA-ers Jeremy Tyler and Dwight Buycks are among the players on the Sturgeons' roster.
