Jamaica's Asafa Powell takes shot at U.S. after relay DQ

After winning the men's 4x100m relay Friday, a couple of Jamaican sprinters didn't shy away from offering their thoughts on what cost the U.S. a place on the podium.

Following the decision by Rio 2016 officials to disqualify the U.S. from its bronze medal position because of an illegal baton exchange, Jamaica's lead sprinter, Asafa Powell, added fuel to one of the sport's most heated rivalries by questioning the American's focus.

“I think the Americans are more focused on beating us than running a proper race,” Powell told reporters Saturday. “So yes, it is the pressure of beating Jamaica.”

Usain Bolt chimed in with his own assessment, saying: "Pressure, pressure."

It was the third straight games the Americans suffered a heartbreak in the event - dropping the baton cost them during the qualifying heats in 2008, while Tyson Gay's doping ban resulted in the IOC stripping the four-man team of a silver medal in 2012.
