Sturridge returns to Liverpool's XI after recovering from hip problem

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is leading the line against Burnley on Saturday after overcoming a hip injury.

The England international missed Liverpool's opening 4-3 win at Arsenal last weekend amid reports that he was fit to play.

But manager Jurgen Klopp opted to work Sturridge in training a little longer before handing him his first start of the season.

"He was not match fit last week. That's how it is in football," Klopp said ahead of the trip to Turf Moor. "Of course he is an option when he is fit. Oh my god. There is no doubt about that. I know about his quality."

Sturridge has struggled with several injuries over the past year, and competition for places is harder than ever. Sadio Mane's spectacular Liverpool debut at the Emirates Stadium last weekend, combined with Roberto Firmino's impressive pressing and Philippe Coutinho's clinical goals, showed the Reds can fire on all cylinders without Sturridge.
