Report: Wizards invite Casper Ware to training camp

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

The Washington Wizards will carry an extra point guard for the preseason.

The team signed Casper Ware to a training camp deal, sources told Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post.

Ware enjoyed a cup of coffee in the league two seasons ago when he played nine games with the Philadelphia 76ers. The vast majority of Ware's career has been spent playing abroad in Italy, Germany, France, and China.

The 25-year-old profiles as a speedy shoot-first guard with a knack for getting to the basket.

The Wizards are only carrying 12 guaranteed contracts on the books, only two of which profile as point guard. Therefore, if Ware leaves a solid impression, he could potentially land his second NBA gig.
