Dansby Swanson is on the major-league board.

Swanson, the highly touted shortstop and No. 1 pick of the 2015 draft, wasted little time Wednesday in his anticipated debut in Atlanta, where the hometown phenom lined a two-out single to right field off Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson in the fourth inning for the first hit of his career.

The milestone hit was quickly tossed into the Braves' dugout as Swanson's family and friends cheered on the Georgia native. The 23-year-old made it a multi-hit effort after singling to center in the ninth, finishing the night 2-for-4.

Promoted Tuesday on the heels of the Erick Aybar trade, Swanson's arrival in the big leagues was the fastest for a No. 1 pick since Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg debuted in 2009. The expedited promotion also helped Swanson and Astros prospect Alex Bregman make history as the quickest No. 1 and No. 2 picks to reach the majors since Alex Rodriguez and Darren Dreifort in 1994.
