The Houston Astros released minor leaguer Danry Vasquez on Wednesday after he was suspended by Major League Baseball indefinitely following his arrest on domestic violence charges earlier this month.

"We appreciate the ruling today as it supports our firm intention to terminate Danry's association with the club," the Astros said in a statement. "We will continue to cooperate with Corpus Christi PD as they complete their investigation."

The 22-year-old Vasquez was caught on a surveillance camera outside the Double-A club's stadium allegedly hitting his girlfriend multiple times, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Caller Times.

Vasquez had been a part of the Astros' minor-league system since he was acquired from the Detroit Tigers in 2013. The Venezuelan outfielder was hitting .265/.322/.374 with three home runs, 12 doubles, and eight stolen bases in 60 games prior to his release.
