The last-place Los Angeles Angels received more bad news as closer Huston Street is scheduled to undergo season-ending knee surgery Wednesday.

Street landed on the disabled list with right knee inflammation Aug. 2 and was diagnosed with a torn meniscus earlier this week.

After converting 40 saves last year and crafting a 3.18 ERA in 62 appearances, Street struggled with injuries and consistency this season. He missed a month with an oblique strain and when he was on the mound, Street was hardly effective. In 22 1/3 innings, he posted a 6.45 ERA and 1.92 WHIP.

Street is expected to make a full recovery in time for next season, where he's owed $9 million in the final year of his deal. The Angels hold a $10-million team option for 2018.

Fernando Salas has filled in at the back end of the bullpen in Street's absence. The right-hander owns a 456 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 53 1/3 innings, having converted four saves.
