Watch: A-Rod's first and last HRs of his career

Alex Rodriguez has had a sweet swing since day one.

Between the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers and New York Yankees, A-Rod might've stumbled, but he always knew how to put on a show.

While it's unclear if he plans to retire, the controversial slugger hung up his spikes as a Yankee on Friday, and for the first time in his career, was released on Saturday.

A-Rod has 696 career home runs, and the first one he hit was off Tom Gordon on June 12, 1995 at the Kingdome.

His final blast to date was off the Baltimore Orioles' Kevin Gausman on July 18.

Ideally, a big league club will give Rodriguez a chance to swat a few more, cementing him among the greats who are part of the 700-home run club.
