Pogba wants to 'finish what I started' at Manchester United: 'It's destiny'

As Paul Pogba strolled around Manchester United's Carrington training ground Monday, he noticed familiar faces and surroundings. He left the club as a 19-year-old with so much unexplored potential, and he's now back as the world's most expensive player.

Report: Manchester United completes world-record signing of Pogba for €105M

"I just came back to Carrington and it was like I just came home. It looks like I went for a holiday, and I come back home and I'm happy. I just see everything, the same person, just a great feeling," Pogba told MUTV in his first interview as a United player.

"I would say it's destiny. First my mom told me I would come back here. And I told her, 'You never know. We'll see.' ... You always say your mom is right, and she was right."

The 23-year-old cost the Red Devils a record €105-million fee to reacquire from Juventus as manager Jose Mourinho put the finishing touchings on a summer transformation.

Pogba made just three senior appearances with United before joining Juventus in 2012. Sir Alex Ferguson blamed the player's agent, Mino Raiola, for pushing the Frenchman out of the Old Trafford doors, but nonetheless Pogba has returned with a more polished skill set.

"I didn't finish what I started here. I think I came to finish it," he said.

The sheer amount of money involved in the deal has many onlookers questioning whether the box-to-box midfielder was worth such an investment.

Dr. Tony Xia, after all, bought former European Cup winner Aston Villa for only £76 million (€90 million).

None of it bothers Pogba.

"I only think about the pitch. I want to do great. I want to be one of the best. I want to win titles. I want to achieve things. That's why I came here: to become one of the best and to win titles because I know this club has to win titles," he said.

"I was meant to come back here. I feel this. I always had this United thing in my heart. That's why I came back."
