Report: Chargers, Bosa haven't discussed contract since start of camp

The contract standoff between the San Diego Chargers and first-round pick Joey Bosa is growing more concerning by the day.

Bosa's contract holdout, a rarity for rookie players since the signing of the latest collective bargaining agreement, has carried on for well over a week into the summer practice schedule.

Not only are the two sides not making progress on a deal, but Bosa and the Chargers haven't even spoken since last trading proposals when players reported for training camp July 28, reports Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

The recent lack of communication certainly doesn't mean that an agreement won't be reached at some point in the near future, but the fact that Bosa is missing crucial reps in his rookie camp is less than ideal for all parties involved.

Getting into camp sooner rather than later will be imperative for the Ohio State product's chances of locking down his expected starting role heading into Week 1. He's the only 2016 draft pick still not under contract, and is now well into the longest holdout since the revised rookie pay scale was put in place.
