Former Baylor forward Rykhoek commits to Memphis as grad transfer

Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

Although he never suited up for Baylor, forward Chad Rykhoek is headed to Memphis as a graduate transfer, he announced Saturday.

The 6-foot-11, 230-pound forward was a member of Baylor's 2012 recruiting class, but never played a game for the Bears because of injury issues. Rykhoek will be immediately eligible to play for the Tigers and may receive a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA.

"Chances are I will more than likely get (the sixth year of eligibility) due to my injuries and the time frame they occurred," Rykhoek told Jason Smith of The Commercial Appeal earlier this week.

Rykhoek also visited Rutgers and Memphis in the final stages of his consideration.
